Last Sunday's fixtures were hit hard by the effects of Storm Bert. However, some games did survive the weather. IN the Premier League Ascot United returned to the summit after an impressive win at Sholing. Ascot United kept up the pressure on Beaconsfield in Division One North and, in the South, Fleet Town edged past Bursledon to go top of the table. AFC Portchester's history-making FA Cup run came to an end as they succumbed to National League south coast rivals, AFC Bournemouth.

Ascot returned to the top of the table in some style on the South Coast. They got off to an almost perfect start when Leah Littlechild put them ahead in the third minute. Two quick-fire strikes from Olivia Glover in the 25th and 27th minute then had the Yellas three up at the interval. Littlechild added a fourth five minutes in to the second half. Winchester City Flyers 3-2 Selsey
Flyers bounced back from last weekend's home defeat to Wycombe, but they had to survive a second-half rally from Selsey before securing the points. Annie Northwood and Libby Wilkinson gave Winchester a two-goal lead at the break. However, Gemma Halford pulled one back on the hour before Kayleigh Tonks restored the two-goal gap with 11 minutes to go. Kate Delillis them made for a tense close to the game in the 82nd minute.

Molly Barron-Clark struck early for Bournemouth, giving them the lead after just 8 minutes. Bournemouth were reduced to 10 with just under half an hour played when Amber Treweek was dismissed. Portchy kept the score at 0-1 up to the break, but rom the restart Chloe Gilroy fired in a superb second for the visitors (watch the goal here), shortly followed by the first of Gemma McGunness's two goal. McGuinness then completed the scoring just before the hour mark.

If Penn were to win their league games in hand, they would be level with The Rams at the top, which shows how closely matched these sides are. In the reverse fixture of this one, Badshot Lea took an early lead through Shellie Irvine before eventually succumbing to a 4-1 defeat. With the bottom three starting to look isolated in the Premier League, The Baggies will be wanting to get some points on the board, having played more games that both Selsey and Reading.

Sholing were beaten at home by Ascot at the weekend, a result that put the Yellas top again. This weekend the Boatwomen face the team that Ascot usurped at the top. An opening day 1-1 league draw was followed by a 4-2 for Sholing at Marsh Lane in early November.

This is the first meeting this season, but last year this fixture saw a Courtney Sumner hat-trick help the Greens to an 8-2 victory.

This weekend the tables are turned with Portchy facing a potential banana skin.
