RESULTS
Premier League
A huge opening day statement from the bridesmaids of the last two season. Second versus third from last season. Open paper a tough first fixture for both teams but, as it turned out, it was hard on Woodley not Ascot. An Olivia Glover hat-trick, two from Georgia Luckhurst McCord, Leah Robertson and Leah Littlechild, plus goals from Madeleine Robertson and Beth Lloyd saw the Yellawomen smash in eleven unanswered goals. A hard one to take for Woodley who will need to put this one out of mind as soon as possible. Read the Ascot
match report from Neal Jeffs on the Ascot United site. There are also some photos courtesy of @IDJBell on the Ascot X feed
Badshot Lea 2-2 Selsey
Two late goals saw the Baggies snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat. Kate Delillis and Izzy Childs had put The Seals in the driving seat but summer signing from Fleet Town, Dot Usher, and Deanna Taylor scored to give the home side a share of the points. Match photos from Evan Griffiths (@mcguffin_media) can be found on the Selsey website.
Sholing 1-1 Oxford City
Sholing, in the in first league game under their new guise, fought out a hard-earned point apiece with Oxford City. The Sholing goal was scored by Catherine Browning whilst The Hoops scorer was substitute Ellie Walecki. You can read the Oxford City match report on their website.
Wycombe Wanderers 0-3 AFC Portchester
Millie Bradbury struck twice for Portchester, with summer signing from Eastleigh/Sholing, Lena Stroem was also on the mark. A disappointing start for the Chairgirls, who had kept a clean sheet in three of their last four games at the end of the previous season. A promising start for Portchester, as they strive to get used to life in the Premier League.
Lena Stroem opens the scoring
Division One North
Freya Harris opened the scoring for The Rams. Katie Riddington, signed from Wycombe Wanderers, made it 2-0 on her debut. Riddington, who hit the target 10 times for the Chairgirls in last season's Premier League, came back to haunt the U23 side in this game.
Chesham United Development 0-5 Abingdon United Development
Charlotte Bigmore with two, Mia Crawshaw, Beth Hawtin and Laura King, were the scorers as Abingdon's Development side got off to a great start. Chesham fielded a much changed team, with a number of players make their debut. This time last season Chesham also conceded five at home, although they did score three whilst losing to Long Crendon. Abingdon also scored five in their opening game last season, defeating Wycombe u23 5-2.
Division One South
A game of many goal chances ended without one of them being converted. Our best wishes go to Woking striker Maddie Eggleton who suffered a break to the fibula during the game. Get well soon Maddie!
FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round
A much changed Penn & Tylers Green squad, featuring five of the players who won the league with Long Crendon last season as well as Grainne McNally from Beaconsfield, set down a marker with a resounding defeat of The Goats. Sarah Harrison notched two on her debut. Rachel Southby added two more. Tara Woodward was another of the new signings to be on target.
Interestingly, Penn & Tylers Green are scheduled to play Long Crendon in the next round. Presumably, the Greens registered for the FA Cup before they folded.
Milton United 4-1 Slough Town
Jessica Exell put United ahead on four minutes but they had to wait until the second half to make sure of their progress. Mollie Dyer, April England and Kira Ranxha rounded off the scoring for Milton.
Milton will travel to Premier League Wycombe Wanderers in the next round
Kidlington Youth 5-1 Headstone Manor
A defensive mix-up in the 6th minute saw Iqra Ismail give Headstone Manor the lead at Exeter Park. However, when Courtney Sumner banged in a 29th minute equaliser, there looked to be only one winner. Sure enough, led by an energetic forward display and hat-trick from Grace Craven with an added extra from Zoe Taylor, the Greens ran away with it in the second half. Read the match blog here (Amazing grace).
Kidlington now face Watford Development in the next round.
Tilehurst Panthers 5-0 Goring United
Kloe Peters put the Panthers on their way and Deanna Cane finished the scoring just before the hour mark. However, between these two goals, Leah Why added a hat-trick against their league-mates from last season.
Tilehurst now go on to face an away trip to London and South East Division One side Brentford in the next round.
Hassocks 2-3 Abbey Rangers
Rangers now face a trip South to take on Saltdean United in the next round after goals from Carla Hobbs, Melissa Anders and Rebecca Burtenshaw saw them edge through at Hassocks, despite two debut goals from The Robins' Sofia Harding.
Fleet Town 4-0 Rushmoor Community
Fleet saw of former Division One South local rivals with a convincing 4-0 win, aided by goals from Isabella Moffett, Keira Simpson and Mahiya Sandeep. Town will come up against their former striker, Dot Usher, when they welcome Badshot Lea in the next round.
Steyning Town H-W Eversley & California
Unfortunately, Everlsey had to pull out of this fixture, handing progress to Steyning. The Ssex side will take on Eastbourne Town in the second qualifying round.
Gosport Borough 0-1 Burlesdon
A Zoe Bache strike, just past the midway point of the first half, was enough to give SoReg newbies Burlsedon the edge over their former Hampshire County league-mates. They'll face Dorset League side Longham, who defeated Basingstoke Town 2-1, in the next round.
Havant & Waterlooville 10-0 United Services Portsmouth
A tough opener for newly promoted United Services Portsmouth as they suffered double-digit defeat against a side they will have to face twice in the league this season. E-J May opened the scoring with a penalty for The Hawks, Sophie Lee and Mia Gardner adding numbers two and three. Emily Wernham made it four before the break. Lee then hit her second before Wernham notched three more in a row. Millie McNamara and Lou Selvester rounded off the scoring.
Andover New Street 1-3 AFC Varsity
Ahead of their SoReg debut next week, Varsity progressed in the FA Cup with a solid 3-1 win at Andover New Street. All three Varsity goals came in the second half, from Carmen Green, Eloise Paine and Kayleigh Rogers. Freya Twigg scored the ANS consolation. Varsity make the short trip to Premier League side Sholing in the next round.
AFC Stoneham 4-1 Weymouth
They may not have the services of last season's top scorer Chloe Melton to rely on, but Stoneham were still amongst the goals as they saw off South West Division One side Weymouth with some ease. Emma Simpson scored twice in the opening fifteen minutes, before dropping back to fill in at left back later in the game. Rebecca Moody and a late Lucy Bicknell goal rounded off the scoring for the Purps, who now face a ferry trip to Shanklin in the next round. Emily Screen scored a second half consolation for Weymouth. BotP sends best wishes to Weymouth player Ellia Webb after she was carried off. Get well soon.
Longfleet Lionesses 1-4 QK Southampton
Newly promoted QK Southampton got their season off to a great start with a solid 4-1 FA Cup win at Dorset League outfit Longfleet. Mia Garwin, Megan Morgan, Jess Nunn and Lovedeep Singh scored the goals for QK. Their reward is a home South-Coast derby with SoReg Premier League AFC Portchester.
Fixtures - Sunday 8th September
Premier League
After the results on the opening day, this fixture takes on even more significance. A real test of Portchester's Premier League credentials as they face up to and Ascot side on fire after notching double-figures against Woodley. There's still a long way to go but this already qualifies as a six-pointer.
Venue: AFC Portchester Womens
Oxford City v Winchester City Flyers
After an opening day draw at Sholing, The Hoops will be looking to get their home campaign off to a Flyer, literally, as they welcome Winchester to Marsh Lane. last season Oxford did the double over flyers, winning 4-0 at Winklebury and 5-1 at home. Ellie White scored two on both occasions and, after failing to get on the score sheet on Sunday, last season's top scorer will be looking to get off the mark this weekend.
Marsh Lane, Marston, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX3 0NQ
Selsey v Wycombe Wanderers
Selsey were five minutes away from an opening day victory at the weekend. whilst Wycombe were beaten 3-0 at home by Portchester. They'll both be looking for a more positive result this weekend.
Venue: Selsey Women First

Oasis Academy Mayfield, Ashley Cresent, Southampton SO19 9NA
Woodley United v Badshot Lea
Woodley will be stinging from their heavy opening day defeat at Ascot. Badshot Lea came back from two goals down to get a draw. United did the double over the baggies last season and also knocked them out of the League Cup. The corresponding fixture, on the opening day, ended 2-1 to Woodley with Sarah Lawrence and May Hamblin for United. Emily Foss scored for The Baggies.
Bulmershe Pavilion, Woodlands Avenue, Woodley, Reading, Berks RG5 3HE
Division One North
Ten points separated Abingdon, in 7th, from Ascot in 9th, last season. However, it was Ascot who held sway in the two league meetings. The opening game of the season, at the Racecourse Ground, saw a 1-1 draw thanks to goals from Olivia Mansell for Ascot and Mimi Hodges for Abingdon. At the Northcourt in November Hodges was again on target for Abingdon but couldn't prevent Ascot winning 4-2. Mya Bowler grabbing two of the visitor's goals.
The Northcourt, Northcourt Road, OX14 1PL
Milton United v Eversley & California
Despite ending the season in fourth spot, United were only a point adrift of Penn in second and just six points behind champions Long Crendon. The Boars finished one off the bottom by means of a superior goal difference to Caversham. Both league meetings were awarded to Milton as walkovers, meaning the sides haven't actually met since the 2022-23 season. Milton won both of those encounters, 1-0 at Fox Lane and 6-1 at The Heights, a game that saw Sarah Saunders notch a hat-trick.
Milton Heights, OX14 4XB
Penn & Tylers Green v Chesham United Development
Last season's runners-up begin the new league campaign with a local derby at home to a Chesham side who they didn't actually face up to last season. Both league encounters were awarded to Penn as walkovers. United ended the season in6th spot, only nine points behind Penn but will need to face up to the team who had the best home record in the division last season, losing just once in ten.
French School Meadow, Elm Road, Penn HP10 8LG
Slough Town v Caversham United
The Goats start a league campaign without midfielder Caitlin Levy for the fist time ever. Levy, with the team since 2021, has been given the opportunity to move to Reading FC in the Premier League. There will, however, be a reunion fairly soon when the sides meet in the County Cup in October. This game will see Slough and Caversham meet for the first time in the league.
Venue: Slough Town FC Ladies
Tilehurst Panthers v Beaconsfield Town
Tilehurst open their Division One North campaign by welcoming Beaconsfield to town. They'll be full of confidence after their 5-0 defeat of Goring in the FA Cup at the weekend. However, The Rams started their league campaign with a solid 2-0 defeat of Wycombe u23s, with new signing Katie Riddington hitting the ground running in the scoring stakes.
Venue: Tilehurst Panthers Women
Wycombe Wanderers u23 v Kidlington Youth
Whilst Wanderers were going down 2-0 at Beaconsfield, Kidlington were soaking up the glory of their first ever FA Cup game and victory on Sunday. Spoils were shared between these two last season with both sides winning at home. This fixture ended in a 3-2 win for The Chairgirls.
18i78 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
Division One South
A tough opener for Varsity as they travel to last season's runners-up in their opening Division One South fixture. The Purps were joint top scorers in the league, with 49, but go into the is campaign without the services of 27 goal Chloe Melton. Having said that, they managed to score four in the cup on Sunday. Varsity also had a good cup win, 3-1 at Andover New Street.
Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh SO16 2PA
Havant & Waterlooville v Bursledon
A baptism of fire for Burlsedon as they take on an in-form Hawks side in their first Division One South fixture. Havant put ten past newly promoted United Services Portsmouth in the cup on Sunday and will no doubt be on a high. However, Burlsedon also progressed in the cup, winning 1-0 at Gosport Borough.
Westleigh Park, Havant PO9 5TH
QK Southampton v Fleet Town
Two sides who had solid FA Cup victories at the weekend, both scoring four goals in the process. Fleet had to wait until the final game of the season to claim their first three-pointer last term. They won't want to wait so long this season. QK have lost just once since March as they earned promotion from the Hampshire League.
Venue: QK Southampton Ladies
Wimborne Town v Bournemouth Sports Reserves
Wimborne earned a creditable goalless draw in their opening encounter with Woking at the weekend. Can they go one better when they welcome fellow Dorset side Bournemouth Sports Reserves to town? Sports had a mixed season last year, although their mid-table finish doesn't tell the story of how far clear they were of the bottom three. They won more than they lost, which was a good return on their first season. Another tough test for the Magpies.
Venue: Wimborne Town FC Ladies
Woking v Abbey Rangers
Woking and Rangers only finished two places apart in the league last season. However, The Cards took 15 more points than Abbey on their way to fourth spot. They also did the double over Rangers, winning 3-0 at Addlestone Moor and 7-2 at Woking College, largely down to a Charlotte Keenan hat-trick.
