There seems to be FA Vase fixtures every weekend at the moment and, as it is BotP's favourite competition, the lure of including six Vase ties in 6otB was just too much this weekend.
Mulbarton Wanderers v Cogenhoe United
This is only the third time that Mulbarton have entered the FA Vase. Their previous two attempt ended in defeat at the first hurdle but they are on a roll this season, three games played (two of them away), 14 goals scored and only 1 conceded. Their Northamptonshire visitors have been here many times before, most recently in the 201718 campaign when they reached the 4th Round before going down 3-2 at home to Wolverhampton Sporting Community. There is no previous history between the sides.

Helston Athletic v Fareham Town
Athletic have already bettered their previous FA Vase best effort. They have made the First Round twice before, a 2016-17 defeat to Team Solent and a 5-1 home defeat to Falmouth Town last season. Not a bad record for a side only playing in their fifth Vase competition. Fareham have a much longer Vase history, have been in the Second Round a number of times but have only made it to Round Three once before. That came in 2004-05 when they lost 1-0 at Deal Town. Again, there is no previous FA competition history between the sides.

United Services Portsmouth v Brockenhurst
An all Wessex League battle as Division 1 USP welcome their Premier League neighbours. This equals Portsmouth's previous Vase best. They went down 3-1 at home to AFC Portchester in the 2014-15 season. Brockenhurst have a few Fourth Round appearances under their belt and even made it as far as the Fifth Round in their first venture during the 1974-75 season. They eventually went out 4-1 at home to Stamford. The sides have met in the competition before, two season ago in Portsmouth. Brockenhurst won 2-0 on that occasion.

Millbrook v Bashley
Millbrook have made it out of Vase qualifying for the first time in their history. This is their fourth venture into the competition, losing at the first hurdle on the other three occasions. Bashley, of course, spent many years playing in the FA Trophy but can look back to the late 80s for their Vase heyday. They reached the Semi-Final in the 1987-88 season, going out to Emley 2-1 on aggregate. The following season they got as far as the Quarter-Final before going down 2-0 at Sudbury Town. This is the first time the sides have met.

Lancing v Worthing United
A massive local derby down on the South Coast between two sides who are pretty much close enough for the away to to walk to the ground as their warm-up. Just 3 miles separates the grounds. The home sides best ever run came 10 seasons ago when they made it to the Fourth Round before going out 2-1 at Holbrook Sports. Worthing had their best ever Vase campaign back in their first attempt in 1991-92. They eventually went out in the Third Round 2-1 at home to Northwood. The sides have met before in the competition just last season and it's one that United will want to forget as they fell to a 7-0 qualifying defeat at Culver Road.

New Milton Town v Longlevens
This game was originally scheduled for last weekend but fell foul of the weather on the South Coast. BotP was in Gloucestershire to see Levens progress through qualifying by beating Wokingham & Emmbrook (Sumas Squeezed Out). Since then they have seen of Milton United only to now be faced with New Milton. This is the second time they have made it this far in the competition having fallen 3-2 at Falmouth Town at this stage last season. New Milton have made Round Two once before but have in fact gone one further previously. In the 2008-09 season they made it through to Round Three before coming unstuck 3-0 just down the road at Christchurch. The sides have not met before in FA competitions.
