Women's Tier 5 & 6 Weekly Round-Up (13 December 2020)
Welcome to the second WGFC Weekly Round-Up. Plenty of games to cover this past weekend including there FA Cup matches featuring tier 5 & 6 teams taking on higher-ranked opposition and some fascinating results in the leagues.
FA Cup
Bournemouth were beaten 5-0 at home by Southampton in the big South Coast derby.
Harlow's run came to an abrupt end as they were beaten 9-2 at home to National League Ipswich Town. In the West Miflands, Stourbridge also came a cropper, going out 3-0 at higher ranked opposition in Wolverhampton Wanderers

No games were played in the Premier Division.
In Division One North leaders Darwen extended the gap to 9 points after beating third placed Morecambe 5-0. Thsi fixture was moved to Darwen after Morecambe's pitch was deemed to be unplayable.
In the Division One South there was a full complement of fixtures. Top of the table Chester eased to a 5-0 defeat of mid-table Wythenshawe. Salford City kept up the pressure in second by beating Didsbury 5-1. The bottom two did not play which meant that Runcorn and Warrington's draw moved them both a point away from West Kirby.

In the Premier League Abingdon United retained their 100% record by beating Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 at Northcourt Road. Ascot remain second after edging past Oxford City 1-0 whilst Newbury's difficult start to the season continued as they were thrashed 12-0 at home by Moneyfields.
Only two games went ahead in Division 1. Abbey Rangers lost 3-1 at home to AFC Bournemouth Development, leaving them bottom of the table. Meanwhile, second placed Eastleigh were held to a 1-1 draw at home to third placed Bournemouth Sports, missing out on the chance to leapfrog Southampton Reserves who's game versus Abingdon Town was postponed.

There were no real surprises in the Premier League. Peterborough Northern Star defeated AFC Dunstable 7-2 and in doing so went top on goal difference from Wymondham, who did not play. The bottom two both lost, Bowers & Pitsea at home to Luton Town and Bedford at home to St Ives Town, who's 3-0 victory saw them close the gap on Wymondham to two points.
In Division One North, second and third placed King's Lynn and Needham Market fought out a 2-2 draw leaving Cambridge City still top of the pile. Newmarket got only their second win of the season to open up a three point gap between themselves and second from bottom Haverhill Borough.
East Bergholt, for the second week running, overturned the league placings and defeated league leaders. After beating Millwall for their first win of the season last weekend, they travelled to Hutton and returned with a 3-2 win this Sunday. AFC Sudbury closed the gap at the top to one point after a 4-2 win over Leigh Ramblers.

The top three in the Premier League all won, so it is as you were. Game of the day in terms of excitement came in the matchup between leaders Hartlepool and fourth placed Wallsend BC with the home side running out 7-4 winners. At the bottom Sheffield Wednesday missed the chance to leapfrog Ossett United as they went down 4-2 at Redcar.
Four of the top five were in action in the Northern Division, with only leaders Lumley not playing. Second placed Boro Rangers could have gone top with a win but were held 1-1 by Bishop Auckland leaving Chester le Street Town Dev to close the gap as they beat Washington 4-2.
In the Southern Division leaders Altofts were thumped 4-0 by Farsley Celtic Juniors but stay top for now. Harrogate Town Dev remain without a point despite scoring three against York RI, they still went down 6-3.

Leaders Hackney had a day of in Division One North, leaving second placed Clapham United and their placed Sutton United to battle it out. Neither could make significant gains on the leaders as they fought out a 1-1 draw at Gander Green Lane.
In Division One South, second placed Lewes closed the gap on Herne Bay with a 5-0 home in over Parkwood Rangers whilst on the South Coast Worthing came away from Newhaven with all three points also after a 5-0 scoreline.

In the Premier League Crusaders made it three from three as they clocked up a great 1-0 win at Solihull United, inflicting the hosts first defeat of the season. Sutton Coldfield Town edged closer to Solihull by beating Coventry Sphinx 2-0, leapfrogging their opponents into third spot. Meanwhile leaders Leek Town remain unbeaten after a fine 5-1 win at Worcester City.
No games in Division 1 South but in the Northern section Stoke City Development kept Coventry City winless with a 7-2 win at Allard Way.
