The match that sparked this website and blog, Bedford Town v Stourbridge.
After looking up Bedford's stadium on Google maps, I set off from Oxfordshire bound for The Eyrie, home of the Eagles. With Stourbridge pushing for the automatic promotion spot and Bedford comfortably in mid-table, I was expecting a good and competitive game.
The ground is quite easy to find, being just off the A603. For an evening match, the floodlights are easily spotted from the main road. The ample car park is situated right next to the main stand, just a minute from the turnstiles, even from the far end.
It has to be said that the stadium itself is immaculate, stands, walkways and conveniences all perfectly maintained. There are covered areas on all 4 sides of the ground, a couple of refreshment kiosks, club shop and club house.
Unfortunately, as I only decided to start this site in March 2013 and this visit wa sin October 2012, I have very little detail to add to this entrry. However, I did want to include Bedford on my site because I was so impressed with the venue. As I have said, the ground itself is immaculately maintained and all of the officials and volunteers that I met were polite and enthusiastic.
All in all, I woudl heartily recommend any football lover to take a trip to the Eyrie sometime soon. Thsi is what watching football should be like.
Stour lost the game 2-0 but that did not dampen my enjoyment of my visit.
